During a workshop organized by the International Commission (ICSPR) … Communists stress the need to develop a national vision to confront the “deal of the century”

Occupied Palestine / Gaza: The International Commission to Support Palestinians’ Rights (ICSPR) carried out today, Sunday, June 23, 2019, a workshop entitled “The Deal of the Century and the Violation of Human Rights,” with the aim of examining the nature of the deal of the century, the mechanisms and ways to confront it, and its risks to the Palestinian issue, and the role required to thwart it, with the participation of an elite group of politicians, researchers, jurists and young activists.

Dr. Mukhaimer Abu Saada, head of the political science department at Al-Azhar University, said that the trio in charge of drafting the so-called Deal of the Century are Jewish personalities working close to US President Donald Trump, indicating that America was one of the first countries to adopt the partition resolution in 1947, and it was the first country to recognize Israel despite the fact that the Foreign and Defense Ministries were against the recognition.

Abu Saada confirmed that there are developments at the Palestinian, regional and international levels that encouraged America to go in the direction of liquidating the Palestinian issue, indicating that the Arab situation after the so-called Arab Spring is living in its worst state, as well as the Palestinian situation and the state of division that made America feel that the time is right to liquidate the issue and go to a settlement that does not meet the minimum Palestinian rights

In his turn, writer and political analyst Talal Okal spoke about the dangers of the deal of the century on the rights of the Palestinian people, saying: “The deal of the century is an American-Israeli scheme that does not require the approval of Arabs or Palestinians,” indicating that the Bahrain workshop is the most prominent indicator of the progress of the normalization process.

He stressed that the deal of the century began last year with the withdrawal of the Jerusalem issue, declaring Jerusalem the capital of Israel, and moving the US embassy to Jerusalem.

On his part, a member of the Political Bureau of the People’s Party Dr. Wajih Abu Zarifa on the deal of the century and the possibility of confrontation, he stressed that it contradicts international law and many UN resolutions, such as the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination, stressing that there is a possibility and capacity for confrontation of a legal and international character.

He pointed out that the challenges facing the Palestinian issue have become more evident for the Palestinian people, stressing that the deal of the century has its risks at the regional and Arab levels, and there are those who will pay the price.

Abu Zarifa stressed the need not to engage politically with the deal of the century, and even the official position that had long bet on America must end this bet, with the need to distrust the American administration.

At the end of the meeting, the community members called on the Palestinian leadership to build a national vision to confront the deal of the century, with clear mechanisms and a plan of action to block it, and the formation of a national unity government to manage the conflict, stressing that the Palestinian division greatly contributed to moving forward and facilitating the task in front of implementing the deal of the century.
