The International Commission (Hashd) condemns the murder of a child in the Gaza Strip and demands that children be protected from domestic violence.
According to the statement of the Palestinian police spokesman in the Gaza Strip, Ayman Al-Batnijie, this morning, Tuesday: June 6, 2023, the body of a 4-year-old girl was found killed with a sharp object inside her home, and the police and the military are investigating the accident, to find out the circumstances of the accident.
The International Commission to Support Palestinian Rights (Hashd): condemns and denounces in the strongest terms the crime of killing a child inside her family’s house in the Sabra neighborhood south of Gaza City.
The International Commission (Hashd), in expressing its deep regret over the death of the previously mentioned child, and in view with great concern the ongoing cases of abuse against children and women, as well as their exposure to physical, psychological, and other forms of violence, in a manner that violates the lowest standards of national and international human rights law, particularly those related to human rights. Women and children, emphasizing the importance of enacting deterrent national policies against attacks against them, and thus calls on the Public Prosecutor to open an investigation into the incident and to take legal and deterrent measures against perpetrators of crimes against children and women under the rules, without paying attention to any mitigating excuses that would cause waste other innocent lives.
It also calls for the implementation of a plan by government and social institutions, as well as other relevant parties, including the implementation of current family laws, as well as the allocation of sufficient resources and budgets for initiatives aimed at eradicating this sort of domestic violence. It also asks for members of society to raise awareness of children’s and women’s rights to remove all forms and images of violence against them, as well as the activation of the principles of protection, prevention, and effective accountability for any crimes impacting them.
