The International Commission “Hashd”: asks for the Presidency Office to take down the complaint against “AMAN-Transparency Palestine” and make an effort to ensure civil society work independence.

The International Commission to Support Palestinian Rights “Hashd” is watching and condemning the Public Prosecution in Ramallah summoning each of the advisors to the Board of Directors of the “AMAN-Transparency Palestine” for Anti-Corruption Affairs, Dr. Azmi Al-Shuaibi, and the Executive Director of the Coalition, “Issam Hajj Hussein”, yesterday, Monday, June 5, 2023, following a complaint filed against them by the Presidential Court, against them by the Presidential Court, against the backdrop of what was stated in the annual report of the Coalition on the reality of integrity and combating corruption for the year 2022.

Their statements about what happened were documented. The Public Prosecution will convene another Tuesday session to conclude the inquiry into the report, particularly the question of whitening settlement dates. In a dangerous rule of law, the State of Palestine is undermining the workspace of civil society organizations in favor of creating an environment that fosters corruption, which is contrary to the minimum provisions of national and international human rights law, particularly those to which the State of Palestine has joined.

The international Commission “Hashd,” focuses on the freedom of action of civil society organizations, the rights and freedoms guaranteed, including the right to opinion and expression, as well as the fight against corruption and abuses and exposing them, as a tool of protection and popular oversight on the principle of legality regulating the behavior of public administration, particularly in light of the absence of the Legislative Council, and as it considers the summoning in the absence of the Legislative Council. Therefore, it calls on the Palestinian Authority and its institutions to respect the principles of civil work, freedom of opinion and expression, and the necessity of Respect for the international conventions to which Palestine is a party, especially the right to freedom of association and the independence of its work.

The International Commission also insists that the Presidency Office withdraw the complaint against AMAN-Transparency Palestine, including the request of the Public Prosecution Office to open an investigation into all of the information presented in the AMAN report and to refer everyone who is found to be involved in legal violations to the judiciary adequately, and it also confirms the importance of approving a modern law on the right to information, to enable institutions to obtain and provide accurate information, due to its paramount importance in promoting transparency, the impartiality of the public office and combating corruption.

Finished.
