ICSPR Conducts an Awareness Session and Psychosocial Support Activities for Children in Northern Gaza

The International Commission to Support Palestinian Rights (ICSPR), in partnership with the Italian campaign “100×100 Gaza,” conducted an awareness session together with recreational and psychosocial support activities for children in Ahali Lubnan Camp in the northern Gaza Strip, with the participation of 30 boys and girls, as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen children’s awareness of their basic rights and provide them with psychosocial and social support amid the difficult humanitarian conditions.

The session focused on raising awareness of children’s rights and the importance of knowing their fundamental rights in accordance with child protection principles, in a way that helps strengthen their awareness of their human rights and reinforces concepts of protection and safety.

The activity also included a variety of recreational events and group games, including jump-rope and ball games, in addition to psychosocial support activities aimed at reducing the psychological stress experienced by children and providing a safe space for emotional release and positive interaction. Structured play and psychosocial activities are widely used in Gaza camps to help children express emotions, build social connection, and regain a sense of safety.

The event was marked by enthusiasm and positive engagement, as the children became actively involved in the activities provided, which contributed to strengthening their self-confidence and developing a spirit of participation and cooperation among them.

ICSPR affirmed that this activity comes within the framework of efforts aimed at supporting children in the Gaza Strip through humanitarian response programs, including awareness activities, recreation, and psychosocial and social support, in order to mitigate the effects of the difficult humanitarian conditions experienced by children in displacement camps.

The Commission stressed the importance of continuing such initiatives, which strengthen child protection, support children’s mental and social well-being, and help provide a safe and supportive environment that gives them hope and assists them in facing current challenges.
