ICSPR condemns the occupation crimes in Jenin and the rest of the Palestinian territories and calls on the international community to provide protection for the Palestinian people

The International Commission to Support Palestinians’ Rights (ICSPR), followed with great concern the Israeli occupation storming Jenin camp, which resulted in the death of 3 Palestinians and the injury of others. According to the available information, the Israeli occupation forces used excessive and lethal force in dealing with the citizens, where the Ministry of Health announced the martyrdom of the child Sanad Attia (17 years), Nidal Juma’a Jaafra (30) and the young man Yazid Al-Saadi (23 years) succumbed to his critical injury by the Israeli occupation’s bullets.

The Ibn Sina Hospital and Jenin Governmental Hospital stated that many of the injured are in serious condition as a result of being hit by live bullets. The occupation soldiers also fired tear gas in the vicinity of Jenin Governmental Hospital, which led to confusion in the work of the hospital.

The commission of this crime comes in light of the escalation of the Israeli occupation forces’ crimes against the Palestinians in the occupied territories, the acceleration of cold-blooded killings and field executions, the intensification of campaigns of confiscation, Judaization and settlement in the West Bank and the occupied city of Jerusalem, the imposition of collective punishments, the completion of the construction of the Apartheid, land confiscation, colonial settlement expansion, and the intensification of arrests, which affected nearly 25 citizens of the West Bank today.

In a dangerous escalation, the occupation police and their escort allowed the extremist Knesset member Itamar Ben Gvir to storm the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque. ICSPR expresses its grave concern that the occupation authorities are exploiting the world’s preoccupation in the conflict in Ukraine, and considers that the acceleration of incursions into holy places, cities and camps, the escalation of settlements, the attacks by settlers, the systematic killings and field executions that the Israeli military occupation forces carried out in the cities and villages of the West Bank, which claimed the lives of dozens of Palestinian civilians, reveal a horrific Israeli policy based on more blatant denial of the Palestinians’ right to life, and constitute a flagrant violation of all rules of international humanitarian law, in particular the provisions of the Fourth Geneva Convention and the Rome Statute establishing the Permanent International Criminal Court, and the obligations of the occupation authorities to respect the rights of civilians in the occupied territories Therefore:

  1. ICSPR reminds all of its firm position, that the occupation forces would not have dared to commit their crimes against civilians and civilian objects if they weren’t for the silence and impotence of the international community and the continuation of the policy of double standards that give the occupation state immunity from international criminal accountability.
  2. ICSPR calls on the international community to take immediate and serious action to hold the occupation leaders accountable for their crimes against civilians, to provide legal protection for Palestinian civilians in the occupied territories, and to take effective and immediate measures to stop the massive violations of human rights, which herald a new tragic chapter in the life of the Palestinian people .
  3. ICSPR calls upon the High Contracting Parties to the Fourth Geneva Convention, to fulfill their obligations contained in Article 1 of the Convention, according to which they undertake to respect the Convention in all cases.
  4. ICSPR urges the Prosecutor General, Karim Khan, to work hard to expedite the investigation steps into the Israeli crimes committed against the Palestinians, in a way that triumphs for the victims and the independence and effectiveness of the International Court. The international body (Hashd) urges the international community and the free people of the world to condemn the crimes of the Israeli occupation and support the struggle and rights of the Palestinian people, including activating the demand of international organizations and governments for practical steps to boycott the occupying state and imposing sanctions on it in a way that stops the policy of hypocrisy and selective implementation of the rules of international law.
