ICSPR calls on the Public Prosecutor to investigate the crime of killing a citizen in Gaza
The International Commission to Support Palestinians’ Rights “ICSPR” follows with great concern follows with great disapproval and concern the killing of Sameh Adham Al-Sherbasi at the age of 20 in Gaza City, at Al-Sha’af district , as a result of stabbing him with a knife during a family quarrel, that occurred yesterday at evening, Wednesday, April 21, 2021.
Colonel Ayman Al-Batnaiji, a police spokesman, stated that the citizen Al-Sherbasi was killed as a result of stabbing him with a sharp object in Al-Sha’af district , east of Gaza City, and that the police were opening an investigation into the incident and were working to arrest the perpetrators.
ICSPR regrets the killing of the citizen Adham al-Sharbasi, and condemns the growing phenomenon of family quarrels and the interspersed use of firearms and white weapons alike, warning of the consequences of this on civil and societal peace. Therfore:
1.ICSPR calls on the Public Prosecution to open an investigation into this crime, and to take legal measures to ensure that this act is not repeated to protect citizens and maintain security and stability.
2.ICSPR calls for intensifying efforts from all active societal forces, including political parties and civil society organizations, to reject this phenomenon and to emphasize the principle of the rule of law and the maintenance of civil peace.
3.ICSPR urges citizens to resolve conflicts by peaceful and legal means, and to stop resorting to violence in all its forms.
