The International Commission (ICSPR) Welcomes the Ceasefire Agreement and Calls for the Protection of Gaza’s Residents and the Cessation of Genocide Crimes
The International Commission to Support Palestinian Rights (ICSPR) welcomes the mediators’ announcement of a ceasefire agreement in Gaza but expresses deep concern about the continued atrocities and severe human rights violations committed by Israeli occupation forces even after the agreement was declared.
According to documented information, since Wednesday, January 15, 2025, the Israeli occupation forces have committed a series of massacres in various areas of Gaza, targeting residential neighborhoods and shelters without prior warning in Gaza City and Jabalia. This led to the martyrdom of 81 citizens and 300 injuries over two days, raising the total toll to over 46,645 martyrs and 110,000 injured, including 15,000 missing persons.
In this context, the Israeli occupation forces deliberately continued their systematic targeting of activists and human rights defenders. They bombed a house belonging to the Shaheen family in the south of Deir Al-Balah, which housed the director of the Independent Commission for Human Rights office in Gaza, lawyer Raafat Saleh. This attack resulted in his martyrdom, along with five members of his family and eight others from his wife’s family. He succumbed to severe injuries this morning, Thursday, due to the crime committed by the occupation army on Wednesday, January 14, 2025. This reflects a systematic policy of killing and targeting lawyers and human rights activists, raising the number of martyred lawyers to approximately 186.
The International Commission to Support Palestinian Rights (ICSPR) holds the Israeli occupation fully responsible for its genocide crimes and all grave violations of international humanitarian law, international human rights treaties, the directives of the International Court of Justice, and relevant United Nations resolutions. ICSPR emphasizes the importance of social solidarity with the victims of Israeli aggression and their families, reinforcing collective resilience in these harsh conditions. The Commission reaffirms its commitment to serious legal and international efforts to compel the international community to fulfill its responsibilities in ensuring victims and their families obtain effective international judicial remedies and holding perpetrators accountable in international courts.
ICSPR records and calls for the following:
- ICSPR: Urges mediators and calls on the international community to ensure a sustainable end to aggression and genocide crimes, open crossings to evacuate the wounded and sick, facilitate the flow of humanitarian aid, medical supplies, temporary shelters, civil defense equipment, and all the sector’s needs, ensure the return of displaced persons to their homes, withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from Gaza, and accelerate recovery and reconstruction of health and humanitarian services, culminating in rebuilding everything destroyed by the Israeli occupation. ICSPR also calls for facilitating the work of international humanitarian organizations, particularly UNRWA, activating boycotts and sanctions against the Israeli occupation state, prosecuting criminals in international courts, and providing necessary support and protection for Palestinians.
- ICSPR: Calls on the international community to assume its legal and moral responsibilities to ensure an end to aggression, implement relevant United Nations resolutions regarding the Palestinian issue, end the Israeli occupation, and guarantee the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination.
