ICSPR ORGANIZED A WORKSHOP ABOUT EARLY RETIREMENT LAW AND ITS IMPACT ON HUMAN RIGHTS

ICSPR organized a workshop about early retirement law and its impact on human rights

Human rights activists, experts in the Palestinian law and the members union of public employees have recommended the need to raise a lawsuit in the Supreme Court of Justice, against the decision of the compulsory early retirement, confirming that the resolution is a clear violation of their occupational rights system.

International Commission to Support Palestinian Rights ICSPR, organized a workshop at its headquarters in Gaza City, about (Compulsory early retirement law and its impact on human rights), where the activist emphasized on the need for the formation of a legal committee and a national committee to combat the illegal actions that taken against government employees of the Palestinian National Authority, along with moving the street through the implementation of the sit-ins in front of the official institutions to face punitive actions against Gaza Strip.

Professor Aref Abu Jarad, President of the union of public employee expressed his astonishment at the decision of employees’ retirement, confirming that these decisions would cause the collapse and calamities in many sectors, notably education and health, asking the employees to move and make real steps on the ground through the public strikes to put pressure on decision makers in order to retreat the retirement law.

Mr. Khaled Abu Sharkh, member of the Board of the union of public employee confirmed that these decisions disparage the rights of citizenship and creates a political and geographical discrimination differentiated between employee, demanding the Palestinian government to equal between the employees in West Bank and Gaza in the retirement law and the cutting 30% of salary.

On his part, Mr. Nidal Al Massrri emphasized that the superannuation deducted by the Ministry of Finance and that is contrary to the established procedures in retirement through termination of service through a retirement commission, he proposed to raise the issues in the Supreme Court of Justice in this regard must be any role by local bodies and human rights institutions to raise the issue at the international level.

Mr. Wael called to invest of the European Union decision that reject the recent actions against the employees and key sectors that affect human rights in Gaza Strip. In this regard, it must create an institutional, societal and national coordination of all matters affecting the rights of life and serve as a national and popular incubator.

For his part, Dr. Izzeldin Abu Safiya, confirmed the need to convene a meeting of the Legislative Council to discuss the issued laws and decisions that affected the citizens after the internal division.
