ICSPR welcomes the European Union’s statements regarding the illegality of settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories, and calls to turn these positions into actions on the ground, in a manner that enhances respect for the rules of international law

The International Commission to Support Palestinians’ Rights “ICSPR” follows up with optimism the statements issued by the European Union today “Monday – 5 July”, in which it affirmed that the Israeli settlement policy is illegal under international law, as well as unilateral measures such as forced displacement, evictions, demolition and confiscation of homes will only lead to more human suffering.

According to the data, the representative of the European Union, in agreement with the heads of the European Union missions in Jerusalem and Ramallah, called on the Israeli authorities to stop these activities immediately, and to provide appropriate permits for the legal construction and development of Palestinian communities, confirming again that the European Union strongly opposes all measures that undermine the two-state solution.

ICSPR welcomes these statements and decisions as they are in line with the basic principles of international law in terms of protecting human rights within the occupied Palestinian territories, in a way that enhances international cooperation to ensure holding the Israeli military occupation authorities accountable, which did not hesitate for a moment to commit more war crimes and crimes against humanity against the Palestinian people and their capabilities, considering this as an important positive step in order to encourage compliance with the rules of international law and relevant international legitimacy resolutions . Therefore:

1-ICSPR calls on the international community, the United Nations and all countries of the world, to take these and similar decisions to prove their respect for the rules of international law and human rights.

2-ICSPR calls on the Palestinian leadership and foreign affairs ministry to invest their energies, including using all spaces and capabilities, in order to promote the boycott process and hold the Israeli occupation authorities accountable for its continuing crimes inside the occupied territories.

3-ICSPR calls on the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Karim Ahmed Khan to complete the opening of an independent, impartial and objective investigation into the crimes of the Israeli war occupation, particularly the crimes of settlement, Judaization and mass forced displacement, as the most effective way towards activating accountability and international .
