 Press Release

An urgent notification to intervene to urge the occupation authorities to halt plans to legitimize (70) settlement outposts in Palestinian civilian lands in the occupied West Bank.

The International Commission to Support Palestinians’ Rights (ICSPR)  looks forward to your serious role in pressuring the Israeli occupation authorities to urge and compel them to stop plans to legalize (70) settlement outposts in Palestinian civilian lands in the occupied West Bank, which revealed by the Israeli newspaper “Yediot Aharonot”, on Sunday, 13 December 2020, with the aim of legitimizing small settlements and outposts in the West Bank. The occupation administration seeks to restrict the Palestinians and forcibly displace them from their lands and properties, especially since the General Authority of the “Israeli Knesset” recently approved, on16 December 2020, with a preliminary reading, the draft law on the legalization of the aforementioned outposts, in preparation for passing the racist law with the three readings that allow it to become effective.

The above patterns of grave violations constitute international crimes for their stable violation of the provisions of international human rights and international humanitarian laws, which emphasized the impermissibility of settlement, confiscation and targeting of civilian property and the impermissibility of forced displacement, and also entails a fundamental violation of the 1993 Oslo Agreement signed between the Palestinian and Israeli sides, in addition to its violation of international legitimacy resolutions related to the occupied Palestinian territories.

Finally, ICSPR considers your intervention as a banner in order to ensure that members of the international community fulfill their obligations towards justice and the protection of international law, and at the same time it calls on you to make more efforts, by taking practical measures to pressure the Israeli authorities to respect their international obligations to stop accelerating settlement plans, including plans to legitimize (70) settlement outposts in Palestinian civilian lands in the occupied West Bank, and to activate the accountability of the occupation leaders for these crimes. We hope that you will act now, in order to restore respect to the provisions of international humanitarian law and other human rights charters in the hearts of the victims, who are looking forward to the day when these laws, charters and treaties will be implemented.
