ICSPR Holds Awareness Workshop on Promoting Civil Peace in Displacement Camps in Deir Al-Balah
The International Commission to Support Palestinian Rights (ICSPR) held an awareness workshop entitled “Promoting Civil Peace in Displacement Camps” at Al-Farah School (1) in Deir Al-Balah, with the participation of 25 displaced Palestinian women. The workshop aimed to raise awareness of the importance of civil peace and the role of women and families in fostering understanding and strengthening social cohesion.
The workshop addressed the concept of civil peace, its principles, practical mechanisms, and ways to promote it within families and communities. Particular emphasis was placed on the pivotal role women play in building a family environment based on dialogue, respect, and cooperation, thereby helping to reduce disputes and strengthen stability and social cohesion, particularly amid the difficult humanitarian and social conditions facing displaced people.
The workshop also provided participants with an opportunity to raise issues and challenges they face within their families and displacement communities. These issues were discussed interactively, with a focus on identifying constructive approaches and appropriate ways to address them, thereby promoting a culture of dialogue, non-violence, and acceptance of others.
The workshop highlighted the importance of strengthening the role of Palestinian women as key partners in protecting civil peace and fostering a culture of understanding, tolerance, and dialogue within the family, which constitutes the fundamental building block of a more cohesive society capable of confronting crises and challenges.
The workshop was facilitated by Lubna Deeb, researcher, lawyer, and Coordinator of ICSPR’s International Advocacy Unit, with the participation of Moataz Abd Alati, Director of Al-Farah School, who helped support and organize the activity at the school.
This workshop forms part of ICSPR’s ongoing efforts to raise community awareness of human rights, support social cohesion and civil peace, empower women, and strengthen their capacity to contribute to creating safer and more stable family and community environments, particularly amid the exceptional circumstances facing Palestinian society.
