ICSPR Conducts an Awareness Session at Samir School in Al-Zawaida on Protecting Girls from Exploitation, Blackmail, and Gender-Based Violence
The International Commission to Support Palestinian Rights (ICSPR) conducted an awareness session at Samir School in Al-Zawaida, focusing on ways to protect girls from the risks of exploitation, blackmail, and gender-based violence. The session was part of ICSPR’s ongoing efforts to promote human rights awareness, foster a culture of protection, and uphold the principles of human dignity, justice, and equality.
The session was delivered by Ms. Abla Al-Khatib, a volunteer with ICSPR. She highlighted the importance of raising girls’ awareness of the risks they may face and the ways to prevent different forms of exploitation and blackmail. The session also introduced gender-based violence, its various forms, and its psychological, social, and human rights implications.
The session further emphasized the importance of strengthening girls’ ability to recognize practices that violate their rights and respond to them with awareness. It encouraged them to seek assistance and report violations through appropriate and safe channels, helping reduce the risks of violence and exploitation and create a safer environment for them.
ICSPR affirmed that raising awareness of girls’ rights and protecting them from all forms of violence and exploitation is a shared social and human rights responsibility. This requires coordinated efforts among human rights organizations, educational institutions, and families to ensure respect for girls’ rights, safeguard their dignity, and enhance their opportunities for meaningful participation in society.
This session forms part of ICSPR’s broader efforts to promote awareness of fundamental rights and freedoms, support awareness-raising initiatives aimed at protecting groups most vulnerable to violations, and contribute to building a society that is more conscious of human rights and more firmly opposed to all forms of violence and discrimination.
