 Press Release,

The International Commission to Support Palestinians’ Rights condemns the Israeli military prosecution closure of the investigation file into the murder of Ibrahim Abu Thuraya

The International Commission to Support Palestinians’ Rights (ICSPR) condemns the Israeli military prosecution’s decision to close file of the killing of citizen Ibrahim Nayef Abu Thuraya (29 yr), who was killed on 15 October 2019 by the Israeli occupation forces on the eastern border of Gaza City, where according to the IDF spokesman, “the criminal investigation unit and the military police investigated with soldiers and officers who witnessed the incident and examined videos that documented what happened, but found no evidence that Abu Thuraya was shot directly by the army.”

Its worth mentioning that Abu Thuraya suffers from a motor disability due to Israeli shelling on 11 April 2008, which resulted in amputation of his feet.

The International Commission to Support Palestinians’ Rights (ICSPR) believes that the decision of the Israeli Military Prosecution not to hold the perpetrators accountable and to prevent the prosecution of Israeli military leaders and soldiers who commit criminal acts and violate international law and international humanitarian law, including the four Geneva Conventions and the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court. Therefore:

  1. ICSPR emphasizes that the continuing approach of non-accountability of perpetrators of crimes against Palestinian civilians leads the Israeli occupation forces to commit further crimes against Palestinian civilians
  2. ICSPR urges the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court to expedite the completion of the preliminary study and move forward to initiate a preliminary investigation into the crimes that the occupation leaders committed, as that is the only way to create a state of deterrence and stop the bloodshed of innocent Palestinians.

Regards

ICSPR
