Assassination of the martyr Mazen Fuqahaa is a war crime

International Commission to Support Palestinian Rights (I.C.S.P.R) condemns the crime of assassination the former prisoner Mazen Fuqahaa 39-year-old, which considered a war crime and terrorism by the Israeli Occupation against the Palestinian leaderships and citizens.

According to Hamas Interior spokesperson, Eyad Al-Bazzam,” unknown armed assailants on Friday 24 March 2017 opened fire at Fuqahaa at the entrance to a residence in Tal al-Hawa neighborhood in southwestern Gaza City, the assassination was carried out with a gun equipped with a silencer.

Fuqahaa, from the northern occupied West Bank district of Tubas, he is married and a father of two children, he was released from serving a life sentence in Israeli custody in the 2011 “Gilad Shalit” prisoners exchange deal, and then exiled to the besieged Gaza Strip.

International Commission to Support Palestinian Rights (I.C.S.P.R) emphasized that this crime added to a series of the occupation crimes, this assassinations considered part of Israel’s aggressive behavior of incitement to murder, and prosecuting Palestinian leaders, as this crime coincides with the escalation of Israeli actions and incitement against former prisoners, including claiming some states to arrest them again.

International Commission to Support Palestinian Rights (I.C.S.P.R) holding Israel the criminal and civil liability for the assassination of Mazen Fuqahaa and considers it a war crime and serious violation of Human Rights Standards and international conventions, which brought by International Humanitarian Law, Therefor:

I.C.S.P.R demand the Palestinian Authority specially the Public Prosecution, and security agencies to start serious and urgent investigation in order to prosecute perpetrators of this crime, including making a file about this crime to brought the leaders of the occupation to the International Criminal Court.
I.C.S.P.R Call upon the securities agencies to protect the citizens’ lives and maintain their own safety and security, by serious procedures within international human rights norms in order to prevent the recurrence of such crimes.
I.C.S.P.R Call the International Community and its human rights and legal institutions including the High Contracting Parties to the Fourth Geneva Convention in fulfilling its commitments and taking responsibilities through making urgent procedures to put an end to the  violations of International Law by the Israeli Occupation against Palestinian civilians.
I.C.S.P.R demand to take decisive actions about criminal policy carried out by Israeli Occupation of assassinations to Palestinians, and the need of national and international move to protect the Palestinians in the occupied territories.
