The empty intestines beat the executioner’s stick and the bare hand on the shield
International Commission to Support Palestinian Rights (ICSPR) glimmers its warmest congratulations to the detainees, the brave families and to the generality of our people in Palestine and diaspora; for the empty intestine victory against the stick of the executioner and the bare hand on the shield. ICSPR values the prominent role of all Palestinian people; minors, adults, men, women and all institutions and staffs in mobilizing and supporting the historic prisoners’ strike throughout the 41 days of hunger-strike.
ICSPR believes that the PNA has not taken the necessary measures to activate the international mechanisms to carry out its legal and moral duties. They could have pressured on the Security Council, the High Contracting Parties of the Geneva Conventions, and Human Rights Council to convene and take responsibility to pressure on the Israeli occupation authorities; but they did not.
Having considered previous lessons advantages, ICSPR calls upon the Palestinian National Authority to stick side-by-side with prisoners’ struggles and support them through the wide network of international mechanisms, diplomatic apparatuses and Palestinian communities in all countries of the world. Besides articulating the importance of working towards ensuring consensus on a national strategy that aims to ending the torture of prisoners and whitening prisons.
