“Strongly condemns the escalating attacks and crimes committed by Israeli settlers and occupation forces in the West Bank”
The International Commission to Support Palestinian Rights (ICSPR) strongly condemns the ongoing crimes committed by the Israeli occupation forces against the Palestinian people in the camps and cities of the West Bank, coinciding with the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
Today, Tuesday, January 21, 2025, Israeli occupation forces stormed Jenin camp, announcing the start of a new military operation called “Operation Iron Wall.” The forces opened fire on civilians, resulting in an initial death toll of 7 martyrs and 35 injuries. Prior to this operation, there was an escalation in crimes and attacks by settlers on citizens, the most recent of which involved settlers, under the protection of Israeli forces, attacking the villages of Fandaq and Jinsafut in Qalqilya Governorate. They burned homes, vehicles, and shops. It was reported that 50 masked settlers infiltrated Fandaq village at night to launch attacks, setting fire to 3 buildings and 3 vehicles, leaving 21 Palestinians injured.
Meanwhile, Israeli occupation forces have closed the entrances to cities and villages in the northern and southern West Bank by sealing military checkpoints and iron gates. This is part of a campaign to isolate and besiege Palestinian towns and camps, as well as to arrest dozens of citizens and subject them to abuse. In Azzun, east of Qalqilya, residents faced similar treatment, while Jericho remains under siege for the third consecutive day.
It is worth noting that in 2024, settlers committed 2,971 violations in the West Bank, resulting in the deaths of 10 Palestinians. Crimes by the Israeli occupation in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, led to the deaths of 860 Palestinians, injuries to approximately 6,700, and the arrest of nearly 12,000 citizens.
ICSPR: Confirms that the crimes committed by the Israeli army and settler militias aim to impose a new reality aligned with the plans of Judaization, settlement expansion, and colonial annexation in the West Bank. ICSPR strongly condemns the recent decision by the new U.S. administration to lift sanctions on Jewish settlers, which effectively grants settlers a green light to carry out further attacks on Palestinian citizens in the West Bank.
Therefore, ICSPR:
- Calls on the international community, particularly the United Nations and the High Contracting Parties to the Geneva Conventions, to end their state of paralysis and inactivity, and to take serious action to stop Israeli crimes and violations, provide international protection for Palestinians, and pressure the Israeli occupation to comply with the rules of international humanitarian law.
- Urges the international community to impose sanctions and boycotts on the Israeli occupation state, hold its leaders, soldiers, and settlers accountable before international courts, and work seriously towards ending the Israeli occupation, dismantling the racist colonial settlement system, ensuring justice for the Palestinian people, and enabling them to achieve their right to return, compensation, and self-determination.
End.
