ICSPR Conducts an Awareness Session on the Psychological and Social Pressures Facing Women in Northern Gaza

The International Commission to Support Palestinian People’s Rights (ICSPR), in partnership with the Italian campaign “100×100 Gaza,” conducted an awareness session targeting more than 40 women at Ahl Lebanon Camp in the Al-Saftawi area of northern Gaza, as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen psychological and social support for women and raise awareness of the challenges they face amid the difficult humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip.

The session addressed the issue of psychological and social pressures experienced by women under the current circumstances, highlighting the main sources of stress associated with war and displacement, as well as the growing psychological, social, and economic burdens imposed on women and families by the deteriorating humanitarian situation.

The session also discussed the psychological and social impacts resulting from prolonged crises, including feelings of anxiety, fear, and psychological exhaustion, the loss of a sense of safety and stability, as well as challenges related to family responsibilities and difficult living conditions.

The session included discussions on the importance of psychological and social support, and the role of community relationships and mutual support networks in helping women cope with daily pressures, strengthen their ability to adapt positively, and confront difficult circumstances, thereby contributing to greater psychological and social resilience.

The session witnessed broad interaction and participation from the women attending, who shared their experiences and the challenges they face in their daily lives and exchanged views on ways to alleviate psychological pressures and strengthen mutual support within the community.

The International Commission to Support Palestinian People’s Rights (ICSPR) affirmed that this session was conducted within the framework of its partnership with the Italian campaign “100×100 Gaza,” as part of efforts to support women and the most affected groups, promote psychological and social well-being, and provide safe spaces for expression and dialogue. These efforts contribute to empowering women and strengthening their ability to cope with the effects of war, displacement, and difficult humanitarian conditions.

The Commission stressed the importance of continuing awareness-raising and psychological and social support programs for women in displacement camps, thereby strengthening their resilience, preserving family and community cohesion, and supporting women’s right to live in safety and dignity.
