ICSPR Conducts an Awareness Session for Women on Pink October and the Risks of Early Marriage
The International Commission to Support Palestinian People’s Rights (ICSPR) conducted an awareness session on Sunday, 19 October 2026, targeting 35 women at Haretna Camp. The session was part of the Commission’s efforts to strengthen women’s health and social awareness, support and protect their rights, and enhance their ability to make informed decisions concerning their health and lives.
The session addressed Pink October, highlighting the importance of breast cancer awareness, prevention, and early detection. It also emphasised the importance of regular check-ups and consulting healthcare professionals, contributing to greater health awareness among women and encouraging them to take care of their well-being.
The session also discussed early marriage and its associated health, psychological, and social risks, including its impact on girls’ education, psychological and social well-being, and ability to build their future. The discussion highlighted the importance of protecting girls and promoting their rights to education, healthy development in a safe environment, and making decisions that safeguard their dignity and rights.
The Commission affirmed the importance of intensifying awareness-raising activities targeting women and girls, as a key means of strengthening health and social knowledge, promoting a culture of protection and prevention, and encouraging community dialogue on issues affecting the rights of women and children.
ICSPR stressed the need to strengthen the role of community-based and human rights organisations in providing safe and supportive environments for women and girls, raising awareness of health and social risks, and contributing to the protection of rights, the strengthening of social cohesion, and the development of a more informed, supportive, and resilient society.
