Press release

The International Commission (Hashd) rejects the official opening of Papua Guinea’s embassy in the occupied city of Jerusalem.

The International Commission to Support Palestinian Rights (Hashd) is extremely concerned and rejects the opening of Papua Guinea’s embassy in the occupied city of Jerusalem, a dangerous step that violates the provisions of international humanitarian law and relevant legitimacy resolutions and is consistent with an attempt to legitimize plans to Judaize Jerusalem and its sanctuaries, including imposing an accepted reality by force in the city and legitimizing a reality accompli by force in the city.

The International Commission to Support Palestinian Rights (Hashd) warns of the possibly damaging and unlawful consequences of this action, which includes clear prejudice in favor of the Israeli occupation. It is a clear and fundamental violation of international law and international legitimacy resolutions concerning the occupied city, the most recent of which was Security Council Resolution 2334, which stated that the occupation’s establishment of settlements in Palestinian territories occupied since 1967, including East Jerusalem, lacks legal legitimacy.

Including the call for an immediate halt to all settlement operations in the occupied Palestinian territory, particularly East Jerusalem, and the refusal to accept any modifications to the June 4, 1967 lines. Furthermore, the opening of Papua Guinea’s embassy in the occupied city of Jerusalem represents a flagrant infringement and violation of the concept of the inadmissibility of territorial annexation when being occupied by force.

It records and confirms the following:

  • The International Commission (Hashd) urges Papua Guinea to rescind its decision immediately and to follow the determinants of international law and relevant international legitimacy resolutions, particularly since its recent action constitutes an international crime that requires accountability.
  • The International Commission (Hashd) urges the international community to declare its position opposing the transfer of some countries’ embassies to the occupied city of Jerusalem, as this action violates the international community’s will, law, and decisions, including urging it to issue a UN resolution boycotting the military occupation authorities until they comply with the decisions of legitimacy. International issues concerning occupied Palestine.
  • The International Commission (Hashd) urges the Palestinian leadership to mobilize all available resources, including taking action before the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court and filing a complaint with the UN Security Council against Papua Guinea’s resolution for violating the Council’s decisions concerning the occupied city of Jerusalem, and to consider It changes her step after making a choice.
  • The International Commission (Hashd) urges all political parties to move quickly toward reconciliation, to end division, to strengthen national partnership, and to adopt a unified struggle strategy that will increase the cost of the occupation while increasing citizens’ steadfastness and dignity, deeming this an urgent necessity to confront current and growing national challenges.
