ICSPR condemns the opening of the Czech’s embassy in the occupied city of Jerusalem, and considers it an international crime that requires accountability
The International Commission to Support Palestinians’ Rights (ICSPR) follows with great concern and condemnation the Czech opening of its embassy in the occupied city of Jerusalem, in a dangerous step consistent with the attempt to legitimize the plans of Judaizing Jerusalem and imposing a de facto situation by force in the city, and legislate settlement, annexation and Judaization operations that were carried on by the occupation sate in occupied Jerusalem, which are in stark contrast to the principle of the inadmissibility of annexing the occupied territories to the occupation state.
ICSPR warns of the dangerous and illegal repercussions of this step, which includes a blatant bias towards the Israeli occupation, and a clear and fundamental violation of the provisions of international law and international legitimacy resolutions related to the occupied city, the latest of which was Security Council Resolution 2334, which affirmed that the occupation establishment of settlements in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967, including East Jerusalem, does not have any legal legitimacy, and any changes within the borders of 4 June 1967 will not be recognized. Therefore:
- ICSPR calls on the Czech Republic to immediately withdraw its decision, and to abide by the provisions of international law and the relevant decisions of international legitimacy, especially since its recent decision constitutes an international crime that requires accountability.
- ICSPR considers that the transfer of the Czech embassy to occupied Jerusalem is a clear violation of the principles of international legitimacy and international humanitarian law and of all international decisions related to the Palestinian cause.
- ICSPR urges the international community and the free people around the world to condemn the Czechs ’decision, and to work towards the issuance of a UN resolution to boycott Israel for not adhering to international legitimacy resolutions related to occupied Palestine.
- ICSPR calls on Arab and Islamic countries, including the League of Arab States and the Organization of the Islamic Conference, to initiate international, political, diplomatic and legal moves to compel Czechia to withdraw its decision in particular, including forming a unified Arab and Islamic position to support the city of Jerusalem and strengthen the steadfastness of its citizens.
