Subject: An urgent and last-chance appeal to stop the storming of settlers to Al-Aqsa Mosque, and to stop the escalation of Israeli crimes against the holy city and its residents

The International Commission to Support Palestinians’ Rights “ICSPR” highly appreciates your noble efforts in protecting human rights.

In this regard, ICSPR addresses you with this urgent appeal in light of indications of the Israeli military escalation against Palestinian civilians in Jerusalem, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

Over the past two days, the intensity and nature of the attacks that the Israeli occupation forces carried out against worshipers in Al-Aqsa Mosque have escalated, which have resulted -till now- in recording about 450 injuries, in addition to the continuous attacks by settlers and the occupation forces against the residents of the neighborhood and those in solidarity with them for the second consecutive week. Furthermore, threatening and planning to organize tomorrow, Monday “May 10th”, a large march for settlers in Bab al-Amud area to storm Al-Aqsa Mosque. This march is organized by “temple organizations” on the anniversary of occupying Jerusalem in 1967, which events may get out of control and extend to the entire occupied Palestinian land.

Ladies and Gentlemen:

ICSPR affirms that what the Israeli occupation commits, is a brutal assault on the entire Palestinian people, in order to achieve a political goal by overturning the demographic equation in favor of the Jews in the occupied city of Jerusalem, to establish it as a unified capital of the Jewish state. ICSPR stresses that all Israeli measures are illegal and fall within the original policy pursued by the occupation authorities against the occupied city of Jerusalem and its institutions since its occupation in June 1967, to change its features in favor of more settlement, and to impose a Jewish character on it, to impose facts on the land that nullify the Palestinian right to it. ICSPR warns against carrying out the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque tomorrow, which is considered a dangerous escalation of events that could extend to the entire occupied Palestinian territory.

ICSPR warns of the consequences of the continued international conspiracy of silence, and considers this silence as a green light for the occupation forces to continue shedding the blood of defenseless demonstrators, and calls on the international community (states – organizations) to exert adequate political and diplomatic pressure on the Israeli occupation state, in order to stop committing any international crime or violation against Palestinian civilians in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Based on the foregoing, we hope from representatives of international non-governmental organizations, liberals around the world, activists of the human rights movement, international defenders and solidarity activists, to:

  • March to the squares in all Western and Arab capitals to express their support for the rights of the Palestinian people, and exert pressure on their governments to adopt public positions in support of international law and the rights of the Palestinian people, in conjunction with the planned storming by Israeli settlers into Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque.
  • Exert pressure on the international community and state governments not to recognize any Israeli measures that take place in the holy city, and to assert that Jerusalem is an occupied city, and that all measures taken by the occupation authorities following the occupation of the city in 1967 do not change their legal status as an occupied territory.

Therefore, we hope that you will adopt this appeal, and take all measures to ensure that the demands and rights of the Palestinian citizens are met, and to take action now, as tomorrow -literally tomorrow- it might be too late.

Best regards
