ICSPR Conducts an Awareness Session on the Protection of Women During Crises and Armed Conflicts in Northern Gaza

The International Commission to Support Palestinian People’s Rights (ICSPR), in partnership with the Italian campaign “100×100 Gaza,” conducted an awareness session on “Protecting Women During Crises and Armed Conflicts,” targeting 23 women at Karam Camp in the Al-Saftawi area of northern Gaza, near the end of Al-Jalaa Street.

The session addressed the key challenges and risks facing women during crises and armed conflicts, with a focus on the importance of providing protection, raising awareness of their rights, and strengthening access to available mechanisms to help prevent and address violations, particularly in light of the extremely difficult humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip.

The session also discussed the importance of raising awareness of the legal and humanitarian rights and protections afforded to women during armed conflicts, as well as the need to strengthen women’s ability to identify forms of violations and risks they may face and to become familiar with the relevant authorities and mechanisms they can turn to for protection and support.

The session witnessed active participation from the women attending, with discussions and exchanges of views on the main challenges facing women in displacement camps and ways to strengthen community support and protection amid the ongoing humanitarian crisis and displacement.

ICSPR emphasized that this activity was conducted within the framework of its partnership with the Italian campaign “100×100 Gaza,” as part of its efforts to strengthen the protection and empowerment of women, raise awareness of their rights, and support groups most vulnerable to risks and violations.

The Commission stressed the importance of continuing to implement awareness-raising, legal, and community-based programs targeting women, contributing to their ability to protect their rights, access support and assistance services, and strengthen their resilience in the face of the impacts of crises and armed conflicts.
