ICSPR Conducts an Awareness Session for Women on Legal Rights During Armed Conflicts in Gaza City
Gaza – The International Commission to Support Palestinian People’s Rights (ICSPR), in cooperation with the Italian campaign “100×100 Gaza,” conducted today an awareness session for women titled “Women’s Legal Rights During Armed Conflicts” at Al-Ruya Camp – Al-Jawazat, west of Gaza City, with the participation of 26 women.
The session addressed the key legal rights and protections afforded to women during armed conflicts, as part of the Commission’s efforts to enhance women’s legal and human rights awareness and empower them to understand their rights and the mechanisms available to protect them amid the difficult humanitarian and legal conditions in the Gaza Strip.
The session focused on four main areas, including legal protection for women during armed conflicts, the importance of documenting violations, mechanisms for accessing essential services, and ways to obtain legal support and assistance.
The session also aimed to strengthen women’s ability to identify violations they may face, understand the importance of documenting such violations and preserving relevant information and evidence, as well as raising awareness of the importance of accessing institutions and entities that can provide legal and human rights support and services.
The International Commission (ICSPR) affirmed that raising women’s legal awareness is an essential part of efforts to protect civilians and strengthen their ability to access and exercise their rights, particularly in the context of armed conflicts and humanitarian crises that require special protection for groups most vulnerable to violations.
The session comes as part of the Commission’s activities aimed at promoting legal and human rights awareness, empowering women and local communities, and disseminating knowledge about protection and accountability mechanisms, as well as access to services and legal support, within the framework of cooperation with the Italian campaign “100×100 Gaza.”
The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to continuing awareness-raising and community activities that contribute to promoting a culture of human rights and the rule of law, supporting affected groups, and strengthening their ability to protect and claim their rights.
