ICSPR Conducts a Recreational and Psychosocial Support Activity for Children at Ard Al-Shanti Camp in Gaza City
The International Commission to Support Palestinian People’s Rights (ICSPR), in partnership with the Italian campaign “100×100 Gaza,” carried out a recreational and psychosocial support activity for 25 children at Ard Al-Shanti Camp in Gaza City, as part of its ongoing efforts to support children living in displacement camps and mitigate the psychological and social impacts of the war.
The activity included a variety of recreational events, group games, and interactive activities designed to provide children with a safe space to enjoy their right to play and recreation while fostering cooperation, participation, and positive interaction in an atmosphere of joy and fun.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the children, who actively engaged in the various activities. The program helped bring smiles to their faces, strengthen their self-confidence, and relieve some of the psychological stress they continue to experience due to displacement and the difficult humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip.
ICSPR affirmed that recreational activities are an essential component of its psychosocial support programs for children, given their important role in enhancing children’s sense of safety, developing their social skills, and helping them express their emotions in positive and constructive ways.
The Commission emphasized that this activity forms part of its ongoing efforts to protect children, promote their psychosocial well-being, and provide a safe and supportive environment that strengthens their resilience while safeguarding their right to play, recreation, and a life of dignity despite the exceptional circumstances facing the Gaza Strip.
