ICSPR Conducts a Recreational Activity for Children at Al-Rahma Camp in Northern Gaza
The International Commission to Support Palestinian People’s Rights (ICSPR) conducted a recreational activity for children on Monday at Al-Rahma Camp in the Ahmad Yassin area of northern Gaza, with the participation of 25 boys and girls. The activity was part of its efforts to provide safe spaces for children and strengthen psychological and social support for them.
The activity included a range of recreational games and interactive activities that gave children an opportunity to express themselves and engage positively with their peers in an atmosphere that brought joy and happiness, while helping to alleviate the psychological and social pressures and effects faced by children in the Gaza Strip.
The importance of such activities extends beyond recreation alone to promoting civil peace and social cohesion by fostering values of cooperation, tolerance, and mutual respect, encouraging children to communicate positively and reject violence and negative behaviours, thereby contributing to a safer and more stable social environment.
Group activities also provide an important space for strengthening positive relationships among children and developing a sense of participation and belonging. This can contribute, in the future, to their ability to address disagreements peacefully, respect others, protect the social fabric, and promote a culture of dialogue and coexistence.
The International Commission to Support Palestinian People’s Rights (ICSPR) affirmed its continued commitment to implementing programmes and activities targeting children and local communities, based on its human rights and humanitarian responsibility and its belief that protecting children, supporting their mental well-being, and strengthening their social integration are key entry points for protecting civil peace and building a more cohesive society capable of facing crises.
The Commission stressed the importance of intensifying humanitarian and community-based efforts targeting children and providing safe environments that guarantee their right to play, recreation, and protection, in line with the principles of children’s rights, while contributing to strengthening hope and resilience among Palestinian children.
