ICSPR Organises a Recreational and Awareness Day for Displaced Children in Deir Al-Balah to Promote Their Right to Play and Civil Peace
The International Commission to Support Palestinian People’s Rights (ICSPR) organised a recreational and awareness day targeting 30 displaced boys and girls in displacement camps in Deir Al-Balah. The activity aimed to promote their right to play and recreation, provide a safe space for self-expression, and alleviate the psychological and social pressures they face amid the difficult conditions of displacement.
The event included interactive activities designed to promote values of tolerance, cooperation, and mutual respect, while reinforcing the principles of civil peace and community solidarity. These activities contribute to building positive relationships among children and strengthening their sense of belonging and security.
The Commission affirmed that children’s right to play and recreation is a fundamental right guaranteed by the Convention on the Rights of the Child. It stressed the importance of providing safe and supportive environments for displaced children and strengthening community initiatives that combine child rights protection, psychological and social support, and the promotion of a culture of civil peace.
ICSPR emphasised that protecting children and strengthening social cohesion are collective responsibilities that require coordinated efforts by human rights, community-based, and humanitarian organisations to ensure a dignified and safe life for Palestinian children.
