As Part of the “Youth Civil Society Activists Diploma” Program, Participants Implement a Community Initiative Aimed at Promoting Children’s Mental Health
As part of the activities of the “Youth Civil Society Activists Diploma” program, participants implemented a community initiative aimed at promoting children’s mental health in light of the difficult humanitarian conditions facing the Gaza Strip, within the broader efforts to provide children with psychological and social support and to create safe spaces for expression and interaction.
The initiative focused on using drawing tools and artistic expression as supportive means to help children release their emotions and express their experiences in a creative and safe way, contributing to easing the psychological pressures they face as a result of the current situation. Such approaches are increasingly recognized in psychosocial support programming in Gaza as effective tools for emotional regulation, self-expression, and helping children process traumatic experiences.
The event witnessed broad engagement from the participating children, who showed great enthusiasm and positive involvement in the various activities, as the artistic and recreational segments contributed to creating a supportive and safe environment that strengthened their sense of security and connection.
Those overseeing the initiative stressed the importance of continuing such psychosocial and community-based activities and programs because of their effective role in strengthening children’s psychological balance and supporting their capacity to adapt and remain resilient in the face of hardship.
Participants in the program also noted that this initiative embodies the role of youth in serving the community and responding to humanitarian needs through designing and implementing initiatives that promote the values of solidarity and community support.
