Press Release

The International Commission Continues Child Protection Activities in the Gaza Strip

The International Commission to Support Palestinian Rights (ICSPR), in partnership with the Italian campaign “100×100 Gaza,” implemented today a psychosocial support session alongside interactive educational activities using entertainment-based methods such as play and drawing. The activity targeted children at Al-Farah School (1) in Deir al-Balah – Al-Baraka Street, with the participation of 44 boys and girls, as part of joint efforts to support children’s resilience and enhance their mental well-being amid the catastrophic humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip resulting from the ongoing genocide.

The activity included a range of educational and guidance-based components built on interactive and energizing approaches, in addition to drawing and coloring activities. Children were provided with a safe space to express their thoughts and feelings through art, within a supportive and creativity-encouraging environment.

The event witnessed strong engagement from the children, who showed great enthusiasm in participating and expressed themselves through various artistic methods. This contributed to boosting their self-confidence, developing their creative skills, and alleviating the psychological stress they are experiencing.

ICSPR emphasized that this activity comes within the framework of its partnership with the Italian campaign “100×100 Gaza,” which aims to support children’s rights in the Gaza Strip through humanitarian response programs, including educational activities and psychosocial support, to mitigate the impacts of war and the grave violations children have endured, in addition to supporting the educational process under exceptional circumstances.

The Commission stressed the importance of continuing and expanding these efforts, which combine protection, rehabilitation, and psychosocial support, alongside documentation and advocacy for children’s rights. It also underscored the urgent need for the international community to take action to strengthen humanitarian and human rights responses, particularly for children, who make up nearly half of the population of the Gaza Strip.
