ICSPR Held an Awareness and Recreational Meeting for Children in Gaza to Promote Awareness of War Remnants and Provide Psychosocial Support as Part of Its Ongoing Activities in Gaza

The International Commission to Support Palestinian Rights (ICSPR) organized an awareness and recreational meeting targeting a group of children in the Gaza Strip, in cooperation with a number of Italian organizations. The activity was implemented as part of its ongoing efforts to provide psychosocial support to children and enhance their awareness of the dangers posed by war remnants and their multiple impacts.

A total of 24 boys and girls, aged between 8 and 13 years, participated in the meeting. The activity included a simplified and age-appropriate awareness session on war remnants, the different forms of suspicious objects, and the risks they may pose to children’s lives and safety.

The meeting with the children was facilitated by Ms. Tahrir Abu Arabieh, who delivered the awareness session and supervised the interactive activities.

During the meeting, ICSPR’s team provided a clear explanation on how to deal with suspicious objects, emphasizing the importance of not approaching or touching them and immediately reporting them to the relevant authorities. Children were also informed about the competent authorities they could contact if they suspected the presence of war remnants in their residential areas or places where they play.

The activity also included recreational and psychosocial support segments, featuring interactive activities aimed at alleviating the psychological stress experienced by children amid the ongoing war and the difficult conditions in the Gaza Strip, while enhancing their sense of safety and self-confidence.

The children showed noticeable engagement and a good understanding of the information presented. They expressed their happiness at participating and called for organizing more recreational and educational activities that would contribute to supporting them psychologically and raising their awareness.

ICSPR affirmed its commitment to continuing the implementation of such activities aimed at protecting children, strengthening their awareness, and working to provide a safe and supportive environment for them in light of the current challenges.
