Press Release

The International Commission “ICSPR” Strongly Condemns the Heinous Crimes of the Israeli Occupation in Tulkarm and the West Bank.

The International Commission “ICSPR” strongly condemns the ongoing Israeli war crimes in the West Bank, the latest of which was the raid by occupation forces on the city of Tulkarm and the Nur Shams camp using military vehicles, covered by the continuous presence of drones that launched five separate airstrikes on Tulkarm and Nur Shams camp. This resulted in the martyrdom of 8 citizens, including two women, in an operation of extrajudicial killings and assassinations.

On the same day, occupation forces launched several attacks and carried out arrests in multiple areas, including the city of Tubas, Beita town south of Nablus, Balata camp east of Nablus, Deir al-Ghusun north of Tulkarm, Jabal area north of Nablus, and Amari camp in the city of Al-Bireh.

The International Commission “ICSPR” highlights that the raids into cities and camps in the West Bank, in addition to the campaigns of arbitrary arrests and field executions, involved systematic vandalism, destruction of infrastructure and homes. Bulldozers demolished parts of Al-Salam Mosque, blew up the home of the Khalifa family, and razed Al-Muqata’a Street next to the destruction inflicted on Nur Shams camp. The raids and assaults extended to the city of Tubas and Balata camp east of Nablus, in addition to the demolition of several facilities and shacks in the town of Hizma, northeast of Jerusalem. Meanwhile, settler militias launched an attack near the city of Jericho on citizens’ properties in a community west of the Mleiha area.

It is worth noting, according to the Commission’s documentation, that Israeli occupation forces have intensified the use of warplanes and drones during their military operations in the West Bank in 2024, with over 100 airstrikes causing widespread destruction and the killing of dozens of Palestinians.

Since October 7, 2023, Israeli occupation crimes have led to the killing of 824 martyrs, wounding 6,250 people, including 660 children. In addition, 12,000 Palestinians have been subjected to arbitrary mass arrests, with the demolition and destruction of 400 homes in the West Bank and Jerusalem, the seizure of tens of thousands of dunams of land, the construction of thousands of settlement units, and the legalization of random settlement outposts as part of colonial annexation and Judaization plans.

Moreover, Israeli occupation forces and settler militias have escalated their assaults on religious sites through daily incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque and by preventing citizens from accessing prayers at Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, coinciding with the Christmas holidays.

The International Commission “ICSPR” reiterates its warnings about the continued weakness of Palestinian political institutions and the absence of a comprehensive national strategy to confront Israeli occupation plans and crimes. It warns of the dangers posed by the failure to implement national consensus decisions and reconciliation agreements, as this threatens the national project, civil peace, social fabric, national relations, and the Palestinian people’s ability to confront colonial annexation, Judaization plans, and genocide crimes in the Gaza Strip.

The International Commission “ICSPR” strongly condemns the ongoing glaring international inaction and failure to stop the escalating Israeli occupation crimes in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. This has allowed Israel to persist and escalate its crimes against Palestinians without regard for international humanitarian law, international human rights standards, and UN resolutions.

The Commission calls on the international community, the High Contracting Parties to the Fourth Geneva Convention, the United Nations, and the free nations of the world to act to provide international protection for Palestinians, ensure sanctions on Israel, suspend its membership in the United Nations, and hold its leaders and soldiers accountable before international courts.
