The International Commission “Hashd” Condemns the Murder of Citizen Ahmed Abu al-Foul and Calls for a Serious Investigation and Accountability of Responsible Parties to Uphold Civil Peace
The International Commission to Support the Rights of the Palestinian People “Hashd” strongly condemns the shooting incident carried out by elements affiliated with the Palestinian Authority security forces on the evening of Wednesday, May 1, 2024. This incident resulted in the killing of citizen “Ahmed Abu al-Foul,” who was one of the targets of the Tulkarm Brigade’s elements, and who had previously survived assassination attempts by Israeli occupation forces.
According to the monitoring of the body, elements of the Palestinian Authority security apparatus targeted a car carrying Abu al-Foul by directly firing at him, resulting in serious injuries that later led to his death being announced.
It is worth mentioning that the Palestinian Authority security forces had previously killed one of the Tulkarm Brigade’s elements, Mutassim Faris, and seriously injured him at the beginning of April, according to documentation by the body and human rights organizations. A series of violations have been observed, including attacks on citizens and peaceful gatherings, as well as the continued arbitrary arrests of individuals with political backgrounds or resisting the Israeli occupation.
The International Commission “Hashd”,while renewing its condemnation of such violations and attacks on citizens and their freedoms, especially at a time when the Palestinian people are facing organized genocide by the Israeli military occupation, considers such actions as part of the assaults on the system of rights, freedoms, and the rule of law. Therefore, it notes the following:
The International Commission “Hashd”: calls on the Public Prosecution to conduct a serious investigation into the killing of citizen Ahmed Abu al-Foul and to announce the investigation results promptly, holding those responsible accountable, in order to uphold the principles of the rule of law and civil peace, and to prevent chaos and internal strife.
The International Commission “Hashd”: believes that the current circumstances in Palestine, especially in Gaza, dictate the commitment of the authority to the decisions of national consensus, the withdrawal of recognition of the occupation state, the internationalization of the conflict, and the commitment to the principles of the rule of law. It emphasizes enhancing the role of the authority in strengthening the resilience of citizens and protecting them to ensure the maximization of the Palestinian society’s ability to confront the crimes and schemes of the Israeli occupation.
The International Commission “Hashd”: calls for everyone to fulfill their responsibilities towards ending chaos and lawlessness, enhancing civil peace, protecting the fabric of our people’s social cohesion, and restoring national unity through national consensus, ensuring the reconstruction of all Palestinian political system institutions on the basis of partnership, democracy, and commitment to the supreme interests of the Palestinian people.
