Press release,

ICSPR condemns the ongoing Israeli violations of citizens’ right in the “Sheikh Jarrah” neighborhood-occupied Jerusalem

The International Commission to Support Palestinians’ Rights (ICSPR) follows with great concern and disapproval the repeated Israeli attacks on residents of the occupied city of Jerusalem, where the most recent of which, was the demolition of their homes, facilities and properties in the “Sheikh Jarrah” neighborhood and the confiscation of their lands.

The Central Court of the occupation in occupied Jerusalem decided a few days ago to expel four Palestinian Jerusalemite families from their homes in the neighborhood, namely (al-Kurd, al-Qasim, al-Ja’uni and al-Iskafi families), and imposed on each of them an amount of 70,000 shekels for the settlers’ attorney fees and other expenses, and allow settlers to seize them with the aim of strengthening the settlement outposts in the neighborhood and enabling settlers to penetrate into the heart of the Palestinian neighborhoods. The court decision was based on a fabricated fact that the land on which the houses were built belonged to Jews who bought them before the occupation of the eastern part of the Holy City in 1967.

ICSPR affirms that there is an imminent threat to about 30 Palestinian families in the same neighborhood for the same reasons, in addition to hundreds of residents in the “Batn Al-Hawa” area in the town of Silwan, and warns of the dangerous Israeli decisions to evacuate Palestinian homes in the “Sheikh Jarrah” neighborhood, and the occupation municipality’s approval of the establishment of a site that includes a memorial for the Zionist soldiers in the heart of the neighborhood. Therefore:

• ICSPR calls on the international community and the UN institutions to shoulder their responsibilities referred to in the international law and the United Nations Charter regarding the crimes and violations of the occupation against the Palestinians.

• ICSPR calls on the Security Council to break the silence about the occupation crimes against Jerusalemites, and adopt decisions and measures that oblige the occupation state to stop settler attacks and violations that are carried out with the protection and support of the occupation army.

• ICSPR calls on the League of Arab States, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and Arab and Islamic parliaments to stand up to their responsibilities regarding the Palestinian cause, and to put occupied Jerusalem and the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque on the top of their priorities.
