Press Conference

In conjunction with the International Human Rights Day, ICSPR held a press conference in which it presented the findings of its human rights report:
“Two Years of Genocidal War in Gaza”

Gaza — Al-Saraya Square, in front of the Red Crescent Field Hospital
On a morning cloaked in unsettling silence amid the ruins of genocide, under harsh winter conditions threatening the lives of hundreds of thousands of displaced families, the International Commission to Support Palestinian Rights (ICSPR) held its press conference in Al-Saraya Square, opposite the Red Crescent field hospital in Gaza City, to shed light on the reality faced by the Palestinian people after two years of all-out Israeli war.

The conference coincided with the International Day of Remembrance for Genocide Victims and the International Human Rights Day, as well as the 77th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It served as a living testimony to the reality of Gaza’s population, who have endured one of the most horrific crimes and humanitarian catastrophes of the 21st century.

The event witnessed notable attendance from local and international media, alongside the ICSPR team including Dr. Ali Al-Attar (Board Member), legal researchers Ranna Hadeeb, Mohammed Saleem, Adham Al-Majdalawi, Lubna Dheeb, Alaa Dawad, Majd Abu Safiya, Mohannad Jadallah, and Ramzi Abu Aoun.

Attorney Ranna Hadeeb, Director of the Legal and Research Unit, delivered the press statement addressing the key outcomes of the comprehensive rights report:
“Two Years of Genocidal War in Gaza.”
She emphasized that the report, distributed internationally to legal and humanitarian institutions, constitutes a complete and documented indictment of the Israeli occupation.

Findings: Human Losses and Destruction in Gaza

Hadeeb revealed shocking data indicating that the recent Israeli war represents the largest systematic genocide since 1948. The report documented:

  • 70,360 martyrs, including 20,000 children and 12,500 women

  • Around 260,000 total victims including martyrs, wounded, and missing persons

  • 2 million forcibly displaced Palestinians (85% of Gaza’s population)

  • Over 500,000 housing units destroyed

  • 200,000 tons of explosives dropped on Gaza — dozens of times greater than the Hiroshima bomb

The report further documented near-total infrastructure destruction including:

  • 38 hospitals, 670 schools, and 165 educational institutions destroyed

  • 785,000 students deprived of education

  • 835 mosques, 3 churches, and 40 cemeteries destroyed

  • 7 newly-discovered mass graves

Due to the health sector collapse, more than 10,000 patients died due to lack of treatment, including 12,500 cancer patients, while 94% of hospitals became non-operational, and essential medicines decreased by 52%.

Famine, Siege, and Humanitarian Collapse

Hadeeb warned of worsening hunger and water scarcity:

  • 90% of the population suffering food insecurity

  • 500,000 people facing actual famine

  • Per capita water access dropped to less than 3 liters per day

  • Agriculture reduced by 80% and fishing by 95%

The occupation targeted humanitarian aid, attacking 128 relief convoys, killing 760 relief workers and volunteers, and blocking the entry of 300,000 tents and shelters, as the approaching polar storm “Byron” threatens the lives of displaced families.

Escalation in the West Bank and Jerusalem

ICSPR documented severe escalations, including:

  • 1,119 martyrs since 7 October 2023

  • 12,000 injured

  • 24,083 detainees, including 1,600 children

  • Allocation of 2.7 billion shekels for 17 new settlements

  • 32,000 Palestinians displaced

  • 450 incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque and Sheikh Jarrah

The report also recorded abuses against detainees, medical teams, and journalists:

  • 110 prisoners tortured to death

  • 142 medical personnel and 257 journalists killed

  • 362 health workers detained, including paramedics and volunteers

ICSPR Calls for Immediate International Action

Hadeeb urged the international community to take urgent measures:

  1. Immediate cessation of military operations and genocide in Gaza and the West Bank.

  2. Opening humanitarian crossings for food, medicine, fuel, and shelter materials.

  3. International protection for civilians and detainees.

  4. Referral of all crimes to the International Criminal Court.

  5. Activate UNSC Resolution 2803 — withdrawal from Gaza, deployment of protection forces, and humanitarian relief.

  6. Support and accelerate Gaza reconstruction under international-Arab supervision.

  7. Stop settlement expansion, apartheid, and forced displacement.

  8. Call upon global communities and free people to continue solidarity, boycott, and weapons embargoes.

The statement was followed by its English reading delivered by legal researcher Mohammed Saleem.

Dr. Ali Al-Attar, ICSPR Board Member, concluded the conference by stressing that the 77th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights is meaningless without tangible action to protect civilians and stop atrocities. He affirmed that protecting Palestinians today is the ultimate test of international law and credibility  warning that delayed intervention means more victims, more collapse, and further erosion of faith in the global human rights system.
