ICSPR: The Israeli occupation commits the widest breach of the ceasefire agreement, bombing civilians and infrastructure in Gaza amid an unprecedented humanitarian and environmental catastrophe
The International Commission to Support Palestinian Rights (ICSPR) expresses its strong condemnation and deep denunciation of the ongoing and dangerous Israeli military escalation against civilians in the Gaza Strip, which represents the most extensive and serious violation of the ceasefire agreement since it came into effect.
Based on the monitoring of its field researchers and communication with official sources, ICSPR documented more than 140 violations since the declaration of the ceasefire, including the use of warplanes, tanks, and armored vehicles stationed at the edges of residential neighborhoods — in a scene that clearly reflects the occupation’s intent to escalate and continue its policies of aggression and collective punishment.
Among the most serious of these violations were more than 100 air and artillery strikes carried out by the Israeli army over the past two days across various areas of the Gaza Strip, resulting in the killing of 99 civilians, including children, women, and journalists, and the injury of more than 230 others. The Israeli attacks targeted displaced persons’ tents, schools, homes, and civilian facilities, including Al-Sardi School in Nuseirat, Kamal Adwan Hospital, and tents for displaced families near Khan Younis, in addition to the destruction of vital service facilities — further exacerbating the humanitarian suffering across Gaza’s governorates.
ICSPR affirms that the occupation continues to target journalists and media institutions as part of a systematic policy aimed at concealing its crimes. Journalist Ahmed Abu Mutair and a broadcast engineer from a local media company were killed, while journalist Mohammed Al-Za’anin lost his son in the Al-Zawaida bombing — a blatant assault on freedom of the press and the right to life.
ICSPR warns of an imminent environmental and health disaster in the Gaza Strip following the announcement by Gaza Municipality of seawater contamination and the mixing of sewage water with drinking water reservoirs due to the shutdown of pumps, fuel depletion, and the prohibition on importing maintenance equipment and generators necessary for operating water and sewage facilities. These developments endanger the lives of hundreds of thousands of civilians and constitute a crime of deliberate neglect.
ICSPR further warns of the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza resulting from the obstruction of humanitarian and relief aid, the closure of crossings, and the prevention of supply entry — a situation that threatens the return of famine and the total collapse of the health and environmental sectors, especially in light of UNRWA’s warning of a “serious risk of famine” after aid entry was halted. ICSPR stresses that the UN Humanitarian Response Plan must focus on facilitating aid entry and supporting recovery efforts to prevent further humanitarian collapse caused by the occupation’s crimes and the continued inability to remove rubble and recover bodies due to restrictions on heavy machinery and fuel entry. The continued Israeli prevention of these necessities constitutes the deliberate use of starvation and the collapse of essential services as weapons of war against civilians.
ICSPR also strongly condemns the death of elderly prisoner Kamel Mohammed Al-Ajrami (69) from Gaza, who died at Soroka Hospital after being held in Naqab Prison under harsh conditions. His death represents a crime of willful medical neglect that demands an international investigation and accountability for the occupation’s leaders and those responsible for crimes against Palestinian prisoners.
ICSPR warns that the occupation’s ongoing policies of killing, siege, starvation, and control over more than half of Gaza’s territory, along with the closure of the Rafah crossing, will lead to grave humanitarian consequences and pave the way for further Israeli escalation — as part of a systematic policy led by Netanyahu’s government to sabotage the ceasefire and exploit Palestinian blood for political survival.
Accordingly, ICSPR calls for the following:
-
Immediate international action to pressure the occupying authorities to halt aggression, comply with the ceasefire agreement, and activate the role of the UN and mediators in establishing a binding mechanism to monitor and enforce the agreement.
-
Immediate lifting of the blockade and permanent reopening of all crossings to allow the unrestricted entry of humanitarian aid and reconstruction materials.
-
Urgent international intervention to save the humanitarian and environmental situation in Gaza, and to support municipalities and service institutions to ensure the continuity of basic services.
-
Referral of the occupation’s recent crimes to the International Criminal Court (ICC) and the opening of an immediate investigation into deliberate killings and the targeting of humanitarian and media facilities.
