ICSPR Strongly Condemns the Crimes of Killing and Targeting Journalists Aimed at Concealing the Genocide and Silencing the Press

The International Commission to Support Palestinian Rights (ICSPR) strongly condemns the killing of journalist Mohammed Mansour, a correspondent for Palestine Today TV, as a result of an airstrike that targeted his home in Khan Yunis this afternoon, March 25, 2025. ICSPR also condemns the killing and targeting of journalist Hussam Shabat, a correspondent for Al Jazeera Mubasher, in northern Gaza by Israeli occupation aircraft while he was performing his work near Hammouda Station in Beit Lahia. This raises the number of journalists killed during the ongoing genocide in the Gaza Strip to 208 martyrs.

ICSPR affirms that the Israeli occupation forces deliberately target journalists to prevent them from documenting and exposing the crimes of genocide and to suppress media coverage. The commission emphasizes that this crime, along with the killing of civilians, especially journalists, constitutes a war crime and a grave violation of United Nations resolutions and international law, which provide protection for civilians and journalists during armed conflicts.

ICSPR calls on third-party states, the United Nations, the International and Arab Federations of Journalists, and human rights organizations to turn condemnations into practical measures to protect Palestinian civilians and journalists. It urges the implementation of boycotts and sanctions against the Israeli occupation state and demands that its leaders and those responsible for crimes against journalists be held accountable before international courts.
