ICSPR President: Israeli Supreme Court Judge’s Statement Reinforces Policies of Genocide Against Palestinians
Dr. Salah Abdul Ati, President of the International Commission to Support Palestinian Rights (ICSPR), condemned the statement made by an Israeli Supreme Court judge, who claimed that “killing two million people through starvation in Gaza” is an act of “self-defense.” He emphasized that this statement constitutes a crime against humanity under international law and is a continuation of Israeli policies aimed at targeting Palestinians and violating their fundamental rights.
In an interview with “Al-Qahera News”, Abdul Ati explained that these statements expose the true nature of the Israeli judiciary, which does not seek justice but rather works to cover up and legitimize the crimes of the occupation. He pointed out that the Israeli Supreme Court had previously issued rulings supporting the blockade imposed on Gaza, even going so far as to determine the minimum “caloric intake” permitted for Palestinians. This confirms the deep involvement of the Israeli judicial system in policies of genocide and deliberate starvation against the population of Gaza.
The ICSPR President added that these practices occur within the context of a severe and systematic blockade, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where extreme shortages of food, medicine, and humanitarian aid have led to an unprecedented catastrophe. Meanwhile, Israel continues to ignore all United Nations resolutions and international humanitarian law, persistently committing grave human rights violations under the legal cover provided by its judiciary.
Abdul Ati stressed that the Israeli judiciary is nothing more than a tool in the hands of the occupation, used to justify its crimes rather than uphold justice. He called on the international community to take urgent action to hold Israel accountable for its repeated violations, urging an independent international investigation and the prosecution of Israeli officials before international courts to ensure an end to impunity and the ongoing crimes against the Palestinian people.
