ICSPR Implements Two Training Workshops to Empower Displaced Women in Coping with Psychological Stress at Al-Asima Shelter Center
The International Commission to Support Palestinian Rights (ICSPR) implemented two training workshops this week aimed at empowering displaced women to cope with psychological stress resulting from displacement and its associated humanitarian and social challenges. The workshops were held at Al-Asima Shelter Center 1 on Monday, 17 November 2025, and Wednesday, 19 November 2025, as part of the Commission’s ongoing efforts to enhance psychological and social support programs for women in shelter centers.
The workshops were conducted by a specialized ICSPR team, including Dr. Khalil Ali Abu Jarad, Ms. Shireen Omar Jaber Naeem, Mr. Adham Al-Majdalawi, and Mr. Mohammed Saleem, who delivered a series of psychosocial activities designed to meet the needs of women in displacement environments.
A total of 40 displaced women participated in the workshops, with 20 women in each session. The activities focused on identifying common sources of psychological stress within displacement settings and their impact on mental health and family relationships. The workshops also provided participants with practical skills to help them positively adapt to daily stressors.
The sessions included practical activities and interactive exercises aimed at enhancing emotional regulation, stress management, and safe psychological release techniques. They also emphasized the importance of mutual support among women in the shelter. Additionally, the workshops provided space for open discussions on key challenges faced by displaced women and explored ways to transform difficult experiences into tools for strength and self-empowerment.
The workshops yielded positive outcomes, evidenced by the engagement and feedback expressed by participants, who reported increased awareness of healthy coping mechanisms and a greater sense of capability in facing daily challenges. Many women recommended the continuation of such activities due to their significant role in providing psychological support within shelter centers.
ICSPR’s team affirmed that these activities come as part of an integrated program aimed at strengthening women’s resilience and providing a safe environment for psychological and social support, particularly in light of the difficult conditions experienced by residents in the Gaza Strip.
