ICSPR Implements a Series of Community Workshops on Social Cohesion and Supporting Women and Children in Displacement Camps in the Gaza Strip
The International Commission to Support Palestinian People’s Rights (ICSPR) implemented a series of community workshops in several displacement camps in Deir Al-Balah Governorate and Gaza City, targeting women, men, and children. This came within the framework of its ongoing efforts to promote social cohesion, support groups affected by the genocide, and alleviate the psychological and social impacts resulting from forced displacement.
In Abu Jalhoum (2) Camp in Deir Al-Balah, ICSPR implemented a workshop with the participation of 20 women, addressing the concept of social cohesion and the role of women in strengthening community solidarity and promoting peace among residents. The workshop was delivered by Ms. Alaa Dawoud, during which discussions focused on the reality of women under the difficult humanitarian conditions and the importance of their role in fostering community dialogue and reducing disputes.
ICSPR also implemented another workshop in Abu Jalhoum Camp in Deir Al-Balah with the participation of 20 men, focusing on social cohesion and mechanisms for resolving disputes between families. The workshop was delivered by Mr. Adham Al-Majdalawi and emphasized promoting a culture of dialogue and social tolerance in light of the exceptional challenges faced by displaced families.
In the same context, ICSPR organized recreational and psychosocial activities for children in Abu Jalhoum and Abu Jalhoum (2) camps, with the participation of 25 displaced children in each camp. These activities aimed to relieve psychological stress and boost children’s morale through interactive and engaging games.
ICSPR also implemented two workshops in Al-Mahbat Camp near Ansar Roundabout in Gaza City. The first included a meeting with 20 women on the situation of women in light of the genocide war faced by our people. The session discussed the main challenges confronting women in displacement camps and explored ways to address them in cooperation with camp officials, with the participation of Dr. Ali Al-Ghattar and Mr. Mohammad Salim. The second workshop included a meeting with 25 women on the same topic, facilitated by Mr. Mohammad Salim.
Both workshops in Al-Mahbat Camp were accompanied by recreational and psychosocial activities for 25 children from the camp, implemented by Mr. Mohammad Salim with the participation of Ramzi Abu Al-Aoun. These activities aimed to promote cooperation and sharing among children and mitigate the effects of psychological trauma.
ICSPR affirmed that these activities fall within its programs aimed at strengthening social cohesion, empowering women, and providing psychosocial support to children in displacement camps, amid the catastrophic humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip. The Commission stressed the importance of continuing community-based interventions to protect the social fabric and support the resilience of Palestinian families.
