ICSPR Conducts Awareness Workshop for Women on the Risks of Migration and Ways to Reduce It in the Gaza Strip

The International Commission to Support Palestinian People’s Rights (ICSPR – Hashd) implemented an awareness workshop targeting 25 women in one of the camps in the Al-Masha’la area of the Gaza Strip. The activity came within its ongoing efforts to enhance community awareness of the dangers of unsafe migration and its social, economic, and psychological impacts on Palestinian families.

The workshop addressed several key themes, most notably the drivers that push young people to consider leaving their homeland, and the risks associated with irregular migration, particularly loss of life, exploitation, and family disintegration, in addition to the broader negative consequences for Palestinian society as a whole.

The session also focused on the role of Palestinian women, especially mothers, in raising awareness about migration risks, strengthening a culture of steadfastness, and providing psychological and social support to their children. Participants discussed possible alternatives and community mechanisms that could help curb migration, despite the severe humanitarian and economic challenges facing the Gaza Strip.

The workshop witnessed notable engagement from participants. Space was opened for discussion, allowing women to share their experiences and views, while emphasizing the importance of intensifying such awareness meetings that reinforce the role of women as essential partners in building a conscious society capable of confronting challenges.

At the conclusion of the workshop, ICSPR affirmed its commitment to continuing awareness and human rights programs, particularly those targeting the groups most affected by crises, stemming from its belief in the Palestinian people’s right to a dignified and safe life on their land.
