“ICSPR” Condemns the Killing of Citizen Hisham Al-Saftawi and Calls for an Urgent Investigation and Accountability of Perpetrators to Safeguard Civil Peace and Prevent Chaos
The International Commission to Support Palestinian Rights (ICSPR) strongly condemns the killing of citizen Hisham Al-Saftawi inside his home in Al-Nuseirat on the morning of Saturday, during a raid carried out by an armed force affiliated with the Ministry of Interior in Gaza, according to the family’s testimony. The family stated that the armed force stormed the house without following any legal procedures and opened fire on the victim inside his home, resulting in his immediate death in front of his family.
In its statement, the family called on the relevant authorities to launch an urgent investigation and hold all those involved accountable, reaffirming its commitment to civil peace, rejection of any acts of retaliation, and belief that justice is the only path to redress victims and uphold the dignity of the Palestinian people.
ICSPR expresses its strong condemnation of this crime, viewing it as a serious indication of escalating lawlessness and disregard for legal procedures in arrest and search operations, as well as misuse of force and firearms by law enforcement personnel. The incident poses a direct threat to civil peace and social cohesion, especially amid the devastating consequences of the Israeli aggression, genocide, and ongoing blockade on the Gaza Strip.
Accordingly, the International Commission (ICSPR):

Calls for the formation of an independent and impartial investigation committee to uncover the circumstances of the crime and ensure that all those involved are held accountable before the judiciary in accordance with Palestinian law and international human rights standards.

Urges official authorities and political factions to assume their national and legal responsibilities in protecting citizens’ lives, preserving the sanctity of homes, and preventing violations or acts of chaos or revenge amid the current situation in the Gaza Strip.

Stresses the importance of prioritizing civil peace, transitional justice, and the rule of law over the logic of force and weapons, in order to preserve the unity, safety, and stability of society.
