ICSPR Completes Preparations for the Launch of the Eleventh Diploma Program for Training Youth Civil Society Activists
The International Commission to Support Palestinian People’s Rights (ICSPR) has completed preparations for launching the long-term diploma program for training youth civil society activists, amid the ongoing Israeli aggression, the escalation of Israeli occupation crimes, and the growing national and humanitarian challenges, particularly in the Gaza Strip.
The program, which is organized by the Authority in cooperation with the Sheikh International Group aims to empower youth and civil society actors to build a national, humanitarian, and human rights–based vision. This includes documenting Israeli violations and crimes, developing participants’ capacities in writing factsheets, policy papers, and human rights reports, and advancing developmental and social initiatives that promote social cohesion, unity, democracy, transitional justice, and good governance. The program also seeks to provide practical policy recommendations to decision-makers in Palestine, the Arab region, and the international community, while supporting the path of justice and solidarity with Palestine.
The program witnessed significant interest, with 891 applicants registering. Of these, 498 participants were selected to sit for the written exam, after which 168 participants who met the program’s requirements advanced to the interview stage. The interviews were conducted via Zoom over three consecutive days, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., resulting in the selection of 100 young men and women from various Palestinian communities to participate in the training program.
The diploma extends over six months of intensive training, incorporating active and participatory learning methodologies, and alternating between theoretical and practical components. It also includes the implementation of youth-led initiatives and activities proposed during the program to advocate for youth rights and the rights of the Palestinian people, in addition to community initiatives, and the preparation of policy papers, factsheets, and human rights reports, under the supervision of ICSPR’s training team, experts, and partners.
The program also offers meetings with Palestinian, Arab, and international experts and officials, and aims to enhance the participation of youth, women, and civil society in political, social, and developmental life. It seeks to contribute to rebuilding the Palestinian individual under the most difficult circumstances, amplifying the voices of victims of genocide and Israeli aggression, and supporting the reconstruction of the Palestinian political system on the foundations of partnership and democracy.
ICSPR emphasized that the diploma program represents a continuation of its human rights and development efforts to strengthen the skills of youth and civil society activists, thereby enhancing their role and participation in policy formulation and vision-building at all levels, in support of Palestinian rights, justice, and solidarity with Palestine.
