ICSPR: Arbitrary Presidential Decision to Forcibly Retire Struggler Qaddoura Fares
The International Commission to Support Palestinian Rights (ICSPR) expresses its full solidarity and respect for Qaddoura Fares, the Minister of the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs, who has been forcibly retired by an arbitrary presidential decision due to his objection to the abolition of the laws protecting the rights of prisoners, ex-detainees, the families of martyrs, and the wounded, and their transfer to the “Tamkeen” institution.
This decision reflects the Palestinian Authority and the President’s insistence on ignoring human rights and national appeals calling for the annulment of the decree-law, which has crossed national and legal red lines and violates the rights of prisoners, the wounded, and the families of martyrs.
ICSPR affirms that any violation of prisoners’ rights is an infringement upon national and humanitarian values. It calls on the Palestinian Authority to reverse these unjust decisions and adhere to legal and human rights standards that respect the sacrifices of prisoners, martyrs, and the wounded.
